We use a deep, rich patchouli essential oil, but just the right amount to ensure the scent remains pleasant rather than overpowering. Alkanet root, which comes from the borage family, is recognised for its anti-inflammatory properties and has traditionally been used to soothe irritated skin. It also gives the soap a soft purple tint, which is how the soap gets its name.
